Qi Gong

Qi Gong Class

Qi Gong is an ancient mind-body practice similar to Tai Chi, but generally easier to learn. Through gentle movements, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, participants can improve balance, flexibility, energy, and overall well-being.

Regular practice may help reduce stress, relieve tension, strengthen the immune system, and promote a greater sense of calm and vitality.

Who is this program for?

Qi Gong is for adults interested in a gentle mind-body practice that combines movement, breathing, and relaxation. It is particularly suited to those looking to improve balance, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness without a strenuous workout or complicated choreography. No previous Qi Gong experience is required.

What to expect?

Qi Gong is practised standing for most or all of the one-hour class, using slow, gentle, and often repeated flowing movements coordinated with mindful breathing. Unlike Tai Chi, which typically involves learning a connected sequence or form, Qi Gong generally focuses on individual movements and exercises that can be easier for beginners to learn and follow. Classes also incorporate stretching, breathing, relaxation, and mindful movement, with an emphasis on moving comfortably rather than quickly or forcefully.

What to bring?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, comfortable footwear, and bring a water bottle.

Instructor Style

Nataliya brings a calm, supportive, and attentive approach to her classes. She provides clear, step-by-step guidance and encourages participants to move at their own pace while developing greater awareness of their breathing and movement.

Richard guides participants through Qi Gong movements step by step while also sharing the history and principles behind the practice. His teaching helps participants understand the connection between breathing, movement, relaxation, and overall well-being.

Accessibility notes:

Qi Gong is primarily a standing practice, so participants should be comfortable standing for much of the one-hour class. Many Qi Gong movements can be adapted or performed while seated. Participants with mobility or balance concerns are encouraged to speak with the instructor about available modifications.
