Who is this program for?

The Writing Group welcomes writers of all experience levels, from those just beginning to explore writing to people who have been writing for many years. You don't need to consider yourself a “writer” to participate. If you enjoy telling stories, recording memories, exploring ideas, or expressing yourself through the written word, you are welcome.

What to expect?

Expect a relaxed and supportive environment where participants can spend time writing and connecting with others who share an interest in the written word. Sessions may include writing prompts, creative exercises, group discussions, and opportunities to share your work. Participants can explore different forms of writing according to their own interests—from personal memories and reflections to fiction, poetry, and other creative writing. Sharing your work is always optional, and feedback is offered in a respectful and encouraging manner. This is a collaborative, self-directed group rather than a formal writing class.

What to bring?

Bring whatever you prefer to write with: A notebook, journal, or writing paper, pens or pencils, a laptop or tablet, if preferred. Your ideas, memories, stories, and creativity!

Instructor Style

There is no formal instructor for this program. The Writing Group is a self-directed and collaborative group where participants encourage one another, exchange ideas, and share their writing and experiences in a respectful and supportive environment.

Accessibility notes:

The Writing Group is a seated activity held in an accessible, barrier-free space. Participants are welcome to write by hand or use a laptop or tablet, according to their preference. Members requiring additional accommodations are encouraged to contact the SASA office before attending.
